Eclectic: A selection of paintings using various techniques by Frieda Post

7sq Gallery (located in the front of Works on Paper in Bellows Falls) is pleased to announce an exhibit of paintings by Frieda Post. Frieda is both a painter and fiber artist and recently moved to Chester, Vermont a few years ago. Since then she has been busy teaching workshops and continuing to learn new and experimental techniques. She teaches workshops in water media, collage, and rice paper batik, and will be teaching a course on exploring textures in art at the Fletcher Farm School in July.

This exhibit, Eclectic, is the first major showing of Frieda’s work in Vermont. She has recently been part of several group shows in the area, including at the newly opened Vermont Institute of Contemporary Art (VTica) in Chester. Her paintings on display at 7sq Gallery/Works on Paper demonstrate a wide variety of techniques and materials, creating many different painterly effects.

Frieda’s paintings have been shown at a number of galleries and art centers in Virginia, and can be found in private collections across the U.S., Canada, Japan and Europe.

When asked to describe her work, Frieda explained, “I try to express my love for the outdoors using different media. Exploration, experimentation and problem solving are part of the painting process.  The patterns of color and shape seen in nature continuously intrigue me.  My love for nature is shown in various ways—from realistic to abstract.  I also like to teach as I believe it is very important to learn from each other.”

Please join us at 7sq Gallery for an artist’s reception on Friday, June 15th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm as part of Bellows Falls Third Fridays. The paintings will be on display at 7sq Gallery through August 10th.
7sq Gallery is located in the front of Works on Paper, an art conservation studio specializing in the preservation of artistic and historic works on paper. The studio and gallery are open Thursday and Friday from 10am to 6pm or by appointment.
